This paper studies the impact of the Real Plan on the relative prices ofinputs used in the constructions funded by the government of Sao Paulo state. The analyses focuses on the period ofJanuary 1993 to December 1995, that is, 18 months prior to and 18 months following the implementation of the Real Plan. Initially the paper addresses the behavior of price indices related to specific types of construction. Next it examines the prices of two sets of inputs: materials and labor. The paper looks at the validity of commonly accepted hypothesis that inflation distorts relative prices: i) in favor of the sectors more capable of passing on cost to the prices; ii) in detriment to
labor.
