As motivações para inovar do agricultor brasileiro: uma pesquisa

This paper presents the methodology and some results of a research conceived to describe the brazilian farmers propensity to innovate. Two main hypothesis were subjected to test: 1) in contrast to what is accepted by the majority of marxian authors, the farmers were not passive agents in the modernization process of the brazilian agriculture, but their main promoters; 2) in opposition to the current view among neoclassical authors, the labor
cost measured by wages was not important to induce technical change; the labor cost measured by the work quality was more important.
