Abstract

The objective of this article is to elaborate a reflection that seeks to understand how the cultural field in Brazilian television is constituted from the analysis of the Brazilian music program Sr. Brasil. Created in 1981 by actor and composer Rolando Boldrin, the program debuted on TV Globo under the name of Som Brasil, and has since circulated through several open television stations, in an interrupted manner, changing its name but maintaining the same concept of the program. For 13 years it is shown by TV Cultura.

Using the notion of field and mediation, we will try to understand where the Sr. Brasil program is in the current schedule of Brazilian television programming and seek to know how the program builds its symbolic models of art, culture and entertainment.
