Abstract

This article proposes to reflect on the representation of the Negro from a conflict that occurred during a political debate that generated embarrassment between candidates for the government of Rio de Janeiro (2018), when the candidate Márcia Tiburi affirmed that there were no blacks competing for the position. In response, competitor Romario replied: "I am the nigger of this debate". As a trigger for reflections, we use political participation in Facebook, investigating, through the comments, which social imaginary (s) pervades (m) the racial belonging of a black candidate, who, in order to have his identity recognized by the other, must be framed in the pre-established patterns by a set of specific rules and practices.
