Abstract

Brazil has a vibrant cultural sector. In 2024, it employed 5.86 million people, the highest level in the historical series, and showed considerable recovery after reaching a low of 4.75 million in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In absolute terms, the sector grew by 12.7% between 2014 and 2024. However, this growth masks structural vulnerabilities and bottlenecks that leave the sector highly exposed to ongoing technological disruption. This report identifies weaknesses in the cultural sector and outlines urgent challenges arising from the integration of intelligent systems into Brazil’s cultural sector.
