Abstract

Approach to the relationships between the Bakhtin Circle and Dominique Maingueneau’s theories, as regards the following aspects: presence of Saussure’s theory, demarcation of the object of study of Discourse Analysis’s and the object of study of
Metalinguistics, the influence of dialogism over the notion of interdiscourse and, finally, the notion of genres of discourse. The confrontation between the two works showed similarities,
as well as theoretical-epistemological incompatibilities, resulting from different academic contexts. In conclusion, discourse analysts should be careful when articulating the two theories
and examine the way some concepts borrowed from a  theoretical context are incorporated into another one.
