Abstract

This paper aims to be a quantitative analysis of the pronouns tudo/todos in contexts in which they refer to or combine with a name or pronoun semantically or syntactically plural. The data studied consists of 34 interviews from the project Português Popular em São Paulo. Using the theory and methodology of Labovian Variationist Sociolinguistics and Functional Linguistics, we describe the uses of these pronouns and analyze the factors conditioning the variation between explicitness x omission of the inflection in the pronoun and in the verb.
