Geographical information system (GIS): yet the matter of method

The article presents an analysis on the methodological subject that involves the geographical science when she comes across the technology of the Geographic Information System (GIS). Proposes the adoption of a critical paradigm of dialetical conception that facilitates to enlarge the understanding of that geotechnology, besides its technical dimension, as a modern instrument of treatment of the geographical information that it influences so much the spatial practices as the representations of the space and the representational spaces, revealing its importance as element whose social and political dimension permeates the process of (re)production of the social relationships of production in the contemporary world.
