This review of the book “Circuits of the urban economy: essays on Buneos Aires and São Paulo” aims to present the main contributions of the cooperation between Argentine and Brazilian researchers united by a common sense: the production of renewed analyzes on the current metropolitan dynamics to from the theory of the two circuits of urban economy. The eleven texts that make up the book permeate the new relations between the upper and lower circuits, as well as the expansion of its marginal portion, explaining the complexities of a simultaneously unified and segmented metropolitan market composed of relations of complementarity and subordination. The great success of Silveira's approach in organizing this work is the understanding that the value of the circuits of the urban economy and the boundaries between them are relational, that is, they are continually redefined by the modernizations that raise the degrees of technology, organization and capital, altering the dialectic of circuits and producing new productive arrangements in the metropolis.
