This article aims to apply different levels of vegetation conditions and assess their differences and skill in monitoring spatial and temporal distribution of drought in Mozambique based on images from NOAA-AVHRR NDVI. I this sense, we evaluate the differing levels of aptitude of index of vegetation conditions especially Vegetation Condition Index-IVC, Standardized Vegetation Index - SVI and Vegetation Productivity Indicator - VPI in drought monitoring in Mozambique. These indices are derived from images of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index - NDVI from 1981 to 2005, produced from channels 1 and 2 of the sensor Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) on board of satellites National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
