Tourism, cultural heritage and production of space: an analysis of the historic center of Bragança city, at the State of Pará

This research aims to examine the ramifications of the policies and actions of tourism and preservation of cultural heritage involved in the production of space of the historic center of Bragança city and how the participation of agents linked to tourism and cultural heritage occurs in the social and historical process of the production of space of the historic center of Bragança. Surveys and bibliographical and documentary analysis were performed; semi-structured interviews. The State intervenes in the space with elaboration and creation of actions that aim at preservation. The local population has also contributed to the preservation of cultural heritage, through their experiences with one of the greatest exponents of Bragança’s heritage, the “Marujada” of “São Benedito”. Related to the tourism, there are many agents present in that space: the local population, the cultural movements and the State which is one of the major to induce the tourism in that place, however this has only occurred very recently.Downloads
