Abstract

This work intends to report an experience of teaching Italian language and literature college students in a pandemic context. For this purpose, it firstly addresses the concept of language (KUMARAVADIVELU, 2012), since the teaching-learning process is taken as a communicative act; secondly, it discusses computer-mediated  communication and the tools that enable interaction in the online teaching and learning environment (BONAIUTI et al., 2016;), emphasizing the role of interaction in a foreign language class (DIADORI,
2011; BALBONI, 2006); thirdly, it highlights the relationship between need and motivation (SCHÜTZ, 2003; HALL, 2011; KUMARAVADIVELU, 2012). The described experience exposes the remote education conflicts during the pandemic, therefore, in an extreme uncertainty situation, in a public university and for lowincome students.
