Public celebrity Romário: analysis of the interactions that are proposed in his official profile in the Facebook

Digital social networks have been an important tool for political communication. This article is about digital public spaceand the proposal by Ângela C. Salgueiro Marques (2011) concerning the political debate on the web. In this sense, we listthe official Facebook profile of Senator Romário Faria, during the first week after the 2014 elections, investigating theattempted designed debate through its publications. We found a real possibility of empowerment by means of the digitalsocial network. However, the decision processes are an individual choice, and are not necessarily entailed to publicationsof the profile. Lastly, we observed that the great number of interactions did not assure the debate, because the greater thenumber of interactions, the lesser was the political force of the debate.
