Account about the paths of the visual return to the Yanomami people of the images taken by anthropologist Bruce Albert in the Yanomami Indigenous Land (TIY) between 1975-1984, carried out using a methodology that i) incorporates restrictive cultural categories and practices of this group regarding the capture, dissemination and permanence of photos, ii) promotes indigenous participation in the photographic return and the creation of their own images, iii) brings together and compares narratives by Indigenous people and by the ethnologist-photographer evoked in the encounter with the photos. The process of return demonstrates how the photographic and film images (utupë) of the Yanomami involve kinship relationships between the living and the dead, territorial connections, conceptions of the body and health-illness, and negotiations with the Western world. Likewise, it reflects on the contribution of Yanomami devices oriented towards trace erasure images, to the construction of a possible (counter) photographic archive.
