From Geology to Genetics: An Anthropological Approach to theTechnoscientific Trajectory of Natural Radioactivity

The objective of this paper is to present the journey and the technoscientific infrastructure of the verifications of natural radioactivity in the city of Lajes Pintadas-RN, from the perspective of the Anthropology of Science and Technique. There are three sets of information analyzed in this text. First, the geological prospecting reports that demonstrate the potential for Uranium mining. Second, the research in Physics and Chemistry that attest to the levels of Radon gas. Finally, the foundation of Medical Geology, as it focuses on substances formed on time scales far removed from humanity. Through the anthropological approach of the works that make up the history of radioactivity in Lajes Pintadas, this article problematizes the national development project, highlights the laboratories and resources necessary in the construction of facts, indicates how results are transformed by distinct approaches, emphasizing how the effects of radioactivity operate connections and require more comprehensive definitions
