Resumo

A crise das narrativas tradicionais (centradas em noções de autoria, estilo, escolas, periodização; nas hierarquias centro/periferia, artes maiores/artes menores; e na tríade Ocidente/Bizâncio/Islã) abriu novas perspectivas para os estudos da arte medieval. Entre elas, a “virada global” (global turn) que permite pensar as conexões, interdependências, trocas e mobilidades. O objetivo deste artigo é o de analisar como artefatos em marfim contribuíram para a constituição de uma cultura visual comum no Mediterrâneo entre os séculos X-XIII.
