Submisson rules

Registration in the system and subsequent access, through login and password, are mandatory for submitting works, as well as for monitoring the ongoing editorial process. Log in to an existing account or Register a new account.

Initial information

Each edition of the ARA FAUUSP Magazine has a previously informed theme, at least two months before the deadline for delivery. It is up to the author to assess the relevance of their contribution to this topic and to the editorial project. As part of the submission process, authors undertake to verify the submission's compliance with all items contained in these Standards. Submissions that do not comply with the rules will be returned to the authors.

  1. The contribution must be written in Portuguese; must be original and unpublished, including the absence of self-plagiarism, in any medium and the submitted text cannot be evaluated by another journal; the author must send along with the submission the document Declaration of originality and authorization to publish an article in Revista ARA, completed;
  2. If approved, the author undertakes to use the ARA FAU USP Magazine Model available on the website or in a direct link to the ARA 2023 Model file to correctly format the article before sending it. The text accepted for publication must follow the style standards of the Model and bibliographic requirements (ABNT NBR 6023:2018, corrected version 2020) according to the editorial project;
  3. The collaboration sent will be submitted in the first stage for analysis by the Associate Editors. It aims to assess coherence with the editorial project of the aforementioned edition, the composition of the argument and the contribution to the areas involved. If approved, the Associate Editors will forward it to at least two referees, indicated according to the fields involved. In case of discrepancy in the result, the contribution will undergo a third examination;
  4. Authors will be informed whether or not they have been accepted for publication;
  5. If your submission is accepted, for it to be maintained, the indicated corrections must be provided within a maximum period of 5 (five) calendar days after the date of publication, without the possibility of expansions or subtractions in the number of authors;
  6. The names and addresses reported in Revista ARA FAUUSP are used exclusively for the purpose of this publication, and are not made available to other vehicles or third parties;
  7. Authors who do not comply with the above standards will have their work refused for publication.

Publication modalities

            ARTICLE: In Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5; must contain between 21,000 and 45,000 characters with spaces, including summary, summary, abstract, introduction, notes and captions. The summary, resumen and abstract cannot exceed 400 characters each;

            TEXTUAL ESSAY: Maintain the above standard; Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5; except the number of characters, which may be less than 21,000, including summary, summary, abstract, introduction, notes and captions. The summary, resumen and abstract cannot exceed 400 characters each;

            VISUAL ESSAY: Aimed at publishing Visual Production by Artists-Researchers and must present an introduction, with a critical-reflexive approach. The text must have a discursive nature beyond the description; Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5; having around 2,000 characters with space;

            CRITICAL REVIEW: Maintain the standard for articles, except that they must be between 10,000 and 30,000 characters with spaces. It must include summary, summary and abstract; Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5;

            INTERVIEW: Unpublished interviews with prominent people in related areas will be accepted. There must be an introductory note, with a brief introduction of the interviewee, date and place of the interview. Maintain the standard for articles, except that they must be between 10,000 and 30,000 characters with spaces. It must include summary, summary and abstract; Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5;

Textual documents

  1. The file must be in Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5;
  2. All collaborations must present a summary, summary and abstract with a maximum of 400 characters each and 5 (five) keywords separated by periods. Whenever possible, compliance with the indexing terms of the USP Controlled Vocabulary is requested;
  3. If part of the content has previously been covered in academic work, articles, presentation, exhibition, seminar, among others, a Note must inform the place, date and medium in which it was presented and by which institution it was received, resolving any doubts about originality;
  4. Co-authored contributions must be justified in a Note next to the name of the authors, in light of the research or nature of the content specially prepared for the ARA FAU USP Magazine;
  5. It is the responsibility of the authors to inform the sources of financing used to carry out the research;
  6. By editorial choice, all notes must appear at the foot of the page and are explanatory only. Exception are documents in the drafting or printing phase and interviews;
  7. Bibliographic references are grouped at the end of the text. According to ABNT NBR 6023:2018, the title of the work must be highlighted, with ARA's option being italics;
  8. Citations - Author, year and page - must be made in the text itself, observing the following notation: (Benjamin, 1987, p. 201-9);
  9. It is the option of Revista ARA FAU USP to use italics for foreign expressions, work titles, names of periodicals, newspapers and magazines. According to the ABNT NBR 6023:2018 standard, it is recommended to avoid using Latin expressions;

  11. The signed texts are the sole responsibility of the authors and there will be no changes to their content after approval, without prior authorization from the editorial board;
  12. The author(s) undertake to deliver, within the deadline stipulated by the Journal, the collaboration having previously provided spelling, normative and argumentative revisions, in order to best express the specially prepared content. ARA FAU USP Magazine may indicate adjustments, always submitting them to the author for acceptance.

Iconographic documents

  1. Iconographic documents must be analyzed in the body of the text, numbered in sequential order and referenced;
  2. Reproductions of iconographic documents - digital or not - must have acceptance and authorization for reproduction and publication from the author(s) or image rights holders;
  3. It is up to the authors to insert the figures in the submission text in low resolution (72dpi jpg or tiff extension), and indicate the number of each figure. If your submission is APPROVED, authors must insert the figures in high resolution (minimum 150 dpi). In the case of an APPROVED Visual Essay, high resolution images are requested to be sent in a separate folder named and numbered according to the sequence indicated in the submission;
  4. It is up to the art editor to adapt the number, size and convenience of the figures according to the editorial project, always being informed to the author;
  5. Figure captions must be identification only (author, title and date of the work, location, source, date of photographic recording);

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The author must send two text files, a complete file and/or a second without any identification of the author.
  • The author must correctly fill in the submission metadata containing the full name, affiliation and email address of all authors, keywords and abstract in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
  • Submission format: The file must be in Microsoft Word format, Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.5.
  • The contribution must be original and unpublished in any medium and the submitted text cannot be evaluated by another journal; the author must send along with the submission the document Declaration of originality and authorization to publish an article in Revista ARA, completed; If approved, the author undertakes to use the Revista ARA FAUUSP Model available at http://www.museupatrimonio.fau.usp.br/revista/ to correctly format the article before sending it.
