Abstract

This paper aims to make a brief review on the new role of the UN on a post-Cold War international agenda, which results in the emergence of the concept of “responsibility to protect”. From this scenario, it is intended to verify the existence of instruments of prevention and struggle against religious extremism, analyzing a specific and emblematic moment in which the UN takes the lead of the organization of meetings of religious leaders with the intention to create a space for discussion and monitoring of hate speech.
