The objective of this research was to verify if the motivation for the public service positively influences the occupational call and the job satisfaction and if the occupational call positively influences the job satisfaction, as well as mediates the relationship between the motivation for the public service and the satisfaction. at work. For this purpose, a quantitative, descriptive survey was carried out with employees of public educational institutions, using primary data and a cross-sectional analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that the occupational call can be considered the mediator between motivation for public service and job satisfaction, as well as being influenced by motivation for public service and influencing job satisfaction. On the other hand, motivation for public service did not influence job satisfaction. Thus, this study provides tools for the development and improvement of policies in the area of human resources management, through the identification of where and how public servants can find meaning in the performance of their work in favor of serving the interests of society.
