A typographic recource of Brazilian newspaper in the Nineteenth century, xylography was shared in by popular northeastern publishing as cover illustrations of literature booklets. The following text tries to makes clear how that useful style, in a certain way, has reached the status of artwork. From the sixtles on, xylographers started to carve in te piedes of umburana wood, albuns with a sharted from and a previously established subject, as means to overcome the decline of literature booklets and in order to take place on he art trading.Downloads
