The problem that motivated this research was to understand how the formation of strategies from Accor Hotels in Brazil between 1974-2006 occurred. Trying to discover the perspectives from the responders about the phenomenon in investigation a qualitative case study was developed. Thirteen managers who acted in the strategic management of the organization were interviewed. The analysis of the data contained the description and interpretation of the different aspects of the phenomenon investigated. Important events were identified and also seven phases during the development of the organization in Brazil. It was observed that the process of forming corporate strategies occurred predominantly through the planning mode. It was also noticed that the major part of the investigated process fits itself in the logical incrementalism approach.
