The Wine Tourism in Brazil: a comparative study among the wine-producing areas of the Vale dos Vinhedos (RS) and of the Vale do São Francisco (BA/PE)

This article has as objective to do a comparative analysis among two of the most important Brazilian wine-producing areas: The Vale dos Vinhedos in Rio Grande do Sul and Vale do São Francisco (VSF) located among Bahia e Pernambuco. The objective is to understand the tourists' motivations that visit the studied areas these they link to the wine and her context or they possess similar characteristics the one of other tourist events. The joined results allow to infer that in Vale dos Vinhedos, the motivation of tourists is related to wine and this region can already be considered a consolidated wine tourism destination. On the other hand, in Vale do São Francisco, the motivation of tourists is related to common aspects to all types of tourism, and in less intensity to the reasons regarding wine. It is ended that the plurality of these two wine regions, as long as properly managed, can be a factor of differentiation for Brazil, in the worldwide wine scene.Downloads
