Abstract

The main focus of this study in this Brazilian case was guided by the objective of revealing the importance of sustainable tourism in cities which have their economy based in the primary sector. Was intended to show evidences for practices of sustainable tourism, in the agritourism segment, proving that it can be an additional income source for the local population, preserving its richness and maintaining man in the countryside. To do so, Rancho Queimado, a city in Santa Catarina, has been chosen through the ethnographic method, which has allowed us to show the emerging natural tourism potential and sustainable actions taken at the study site.
