The following article presents with translations to Portuguese two of the most famous poems of the 18th C. polymath Mikhail Lomonosov: the Morning Meditation on the Divine Greatness and the Evening Meditation on Divine Greatness, both composed in Lomonosov’s poetical heyday. For the presentation I provide a brief account on of these two odes within the history of Russian literature, glancing at his career as a natural philosopher and his complex relationship with the divine. The translations of these groundbreaking poems are effected analogically in Portuguese heroic decassylables.
