An introduction of Russian Children's literature

It is not possible to determine when literature was born, but it is possible to think about when it began to be formalised and became an object of reflection. The early period of Russian children's literature goes from the first primers and manuals of good manners to the first tales for children, which came from the pen of Empress Catherine the Great herself in the 18th century. The Golden Age marked the consolidation of the genre in the country and attracted important writers such as Lev Tolstoy. As this is a topic that has been little explored in Brazil, this article presents a brief overview of Russian-language children's and young people's literature from the 16th to the 19th century.
