Levinas as reader of (anti)Soviet writers

Levinas cites only very few Soviet writers (Grossman, Zinoviev), while references to earlier Russian literature abound in his works. We believe that the references to the latter, which criticize the Soviet regime or society, by emphasizing Soviet anti-Semitism and the misuse of language, complement Levinas's critique of modern European philosophy and cannot be a legitimate alternative to it.
