Deconstructing and constructing the new: the Chinese copy according to Byung-Chul Han

In his 2011 essay SHANZHAI: The Art of Counterfeiting and Deconstruction in China, not yet translated into Portuguese, South Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han analyzes the Chinese copy culture. For the Chinese, the notion of the permanence (being) of things gives way to the notion of path (Tao) and transformation (Quan). Thus, copies, or Shanzhai, are not viewed negatively, rather they are understood as transformed elements, in a continuous and uninterrupted process of improvement. This is the theme of the book here reviewed.
