Abstract

This article presents the results of the analysis of the behavior of environmental terms in vulgarized texts. It emerged from a lexical-semantic study of the vocabulary of the environment domain used in Brazilian online press, from which the results are compared with the use of the terms by experts. For this research, we compiled two corpora, one with press online articles and other with scientific texts, each of them containing about 140,000 words. The comparison of the behavior of the terms in a specialty area with their uses in vulgarized texts allowed the observation of "migratory movements" of words, contributing to a better understanding of terminologization and determinologization mechanisms.
