This study seeks to analyze A visão das plantas, a novel published in 2019 by Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida. This author was born in Angola and lives in Portugal and she can be understood in a group of writers who relate themselves to the African continent not from territorial belonging, but from diasporic displacements. The work in question narrates the final days of Celestino's life, captain of a slave ship and author of acts of extreme cruelty against the African people. The proposed reading focuses on the relationship between literature and memory from a post-colonial perspective, resorting to the work of researchers such as Kabengele Munanga, Grada Kilomba, Eduardo Lourenço, Margarida Calafate Ribeiro, and others.
