O artigo tem por objetivo discutir os conceitos de literatura negra e afro-brasileira, apresentando os rumos dessa literatura iniciada com a emergência de um eu enunciador que se quer negro na poesia, desde o século XIX, com Luís Gama, até os dias de hoje, em que se verificam duas tendências de construção identitária: o enraizamento relacional e dinâmico (rizoma) destacando-se ainda a significativa presença da poesia negra no feminino.
