Abstract

In O Kit de sobrevivência do descobridor português no mundo anticolonial (2020), the poet Patrícia Lino, through a series of verbal-visual poems, satirizes and promotes a rewriting of portuguese imperial memory. Patrícia Lino's poetic Kit is composed of a collection/catalogue of small everyday objects, bibelots, manuals and images ironically intended to appease the portuguese people's feelings of longing and nostalgia for their historical past marked by the Great Navigations, colonialism and the Estado Novo. Kit's poetry, as a post-colonial discourse, reveals the contradictions and dark sides of imperial times that were inherited and still haunt contemporary portuguese society.
