The article focuses on the text Proof of consideration, by Gomes Cardim, published in 1913 and intends to reveal how the author can be considered one of the invisible threads that contributed, aside from the names retained by history, to weave the theatrical landscape of that time by shedding light on many themes of twentieth-century political history that somehow reflect contemporary social anxieties around women, sexuality, and power in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
