The search for an afro-centric ideology – from feminism to afro-feminism

The article explores the adoption and search for appropriate alternative terms to “feminism” by African feminist critics. It also highlights the characteristics of some of these feminist ideologies and the reasons for their formulation. This work is informed by Afro and Eurocentric ideologies defended by these critics which, delineate and justify some distinctiveness of these African feminist positions.Downloads
