Abstract

THIS PAPER ANALYZES THE NOVEL PURPLE HIBISCUS (2011), BY THE NIGERIAN WRITER CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE. WE INTEND TO DISCUSS THE EXPEDIENT OF DECEPTION ADOPTED BY SUBALTERN CHARACTERS ENGENDERED THROUGH LITERATURES PRODUCED UNDER THE IMPACT OF COLONIZATION PROCESSES AS A SURVIVAL STRATEGY IN THE FACE OF DOMINATION AND SILENCING SYSTEMS IMPOSED BY AUTHORITARIAN REGIMES.
