THE DISCUSSION OF THREE CARICATURES BY THE GOAN ARTIST MÁRIO DE MIRANDA WILL BE FRAMED BY A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GENRE AND A THEORETICAL DISCUSSION OF ITS STRUCTURAL FEATURES. AS THE SELECTED CARICATURES FEATURE AN IRONIC COMPARISON BETWEEN EAST AND WEST AND HIGHLIGHT FORMS OF CONTAMINATION AND CULTURAL HYBRIDITY, MY ARGUMENT WILL USE POSTCOLONIAL THEORY AS ITS CRITICAL MODEL.
