Abstract

We analyze the enunciative operations proposed by news organizations from the state of Rio Grande do Sul aiming at maintaining and amplifying contact with their readers. We describe to such intent the discursive logic of the following newspapers as they seek contact with their readers: Diário de Santa Maria and A Razão (from Santa Maria), Gazeta do Sul (from Santa Cruz do Sul), O Nacional (from Passo Fundo), and A Plateia (from Sant’Anna do Livramento). We also have interviewed their editors-in-chief. Newspapers create singular strategies so that readers buy the paper and also keep in touch via the digital environment. Nevertheless, even if the reader is invited to participate by a new reading contract, that occurs under rules which are established at and by the news organization.
