Abstract

Under the cultural studies theoretical approach, this paper aims to make reflect on the performances of young rappers who present in Duelo de MC’s, a hip hop event held weekly in Belo Horizonte under the Santa Teresa bridge, one of the city’s postcards. By appropriating ethnographic tools and discourse analysis, as proposed by Stuart Hall (2002), the research seeks to understand how the MC’s build an idea of resistance on their performances, claiming a place for themselves in the urban space.
