Abstract

This article aims to picture a panorama of the broadcasting of tv shows in Brazilian television, especially those on the police genre and including cable tv. We present the possible explanations for the popularity or failure of such format and genre in our tv channels and also the threats that this format might face, given the emergence of new privileged media in the twenty-first century.
