Cultural practices in Central da Periferia

Abstract

This article presents how the characterization and the construction of cultural practices value are performed in peripheral groups within the project Central da periferia. In this transmission, the practices’ characterization focuses on elements such as everyday life, the connections with the local community, the emergence of alternative circulation system, the potential for expression and the presence of media technologies at the core of the production chain. The construction of such practices’ value is founded on the understanding that they are able to change their material life conditions in these environments, as much as instigate the development of new models for action and promote different perspectives on social conditions.
