O autor relata brevemente a história do desenvolvimento da técnica do estudo da fibra muscular isoladamente, a eletromiografia da fibra única (EMGFU). Descreve o fenômeno jitter e sua obtenção, e também o estudo da densidade de fibras em uma unidade motora. Apresenta ainda o padrão normal para o músculoExtensor Digitorum Communis, realizado em seu laboratório. E finalmente discute a sua aplicação clínica em nosso meio.
