The article deals with a particular methodological problem: the interpretation of assertions containing conventional metaphors. Inspired by cognitive science, the aim is furnishing some conceptual distinctions in a way of making more efficient interpretative exercise of the attribution of beliefs intrinsic to ethnographic work.
