Author Guidelines

AIMS AND EDITORIAL POLICY

Cadernos de Campo - Journal of Anthropology is a semi-annual and double peer-reviewed journal. It is dedicated to disseminating works dealing with themes, research results and theoretical-methodological models of interest to the contemporary anthropological debate. We expect the works can contribute to the development of research at the postgraduate level, at home and abroad.

 

  1. All contributions will be submitted for evaluation by the editorial committee, which will consider: the adequacy of the journal's profile and editorial policy as well as the content and quality of the work. Some of the formats (Articles and Essays, Reviews, Ethnographic or Anthropological Film Reviews) will also be evaluated by peer reviewers after approval by the editorial board.

 

  1. Cadernos de Campo publish works written in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English.

 

  1. The spontaneous remittance of any unpublished collaboration automatically implies the assignment of copyrights (reproduction / disclosure) to Cadernos de Campo. Subject to the journal's rights, the further circulation of these works is authorized, preferably in digital format, provided that the original publication in Cadernos de Campo is mentioned.

 

  1. The translation of works published in Cadernos de Campo to foreign languages ​​is not allowed without the express permission of the journal's editorial committee.

 

Guidelines for Authors

PURPOSE AND EDITORIAL POLICY

A Cadernos de Campo – journal of postgraduate students in social anthropology at USP is a biannual publication dedicated to disseminating works that deal with themes, research results and theoretical-methodological models of interest to the contemporary anthropological debate and that can contribute to the development of postgraduate research, in the country and abroad.

1. All contributions will be submitted for evaluation by the editorial committee and ad hoc reviewers, which will take into account both the adequacy of the journal's profile and editorial line, as well as the content and quality of the work.

2. Cadernos de Campo will preferentially publish works written in Portuguese and also in Spanish. Eventually, works in French and English will be accepted, in which case the evaluation of the work and the viability of the publication will be evaluated by the editorial committee.

3. The spontaneous remittance of any unpublished collaboration automatically implies the transfer of copyright (reproduction/dissemination) to Cadernos de Campo. Subject to the journal's rights, the subsequent circulation of these works is authorized, preferably in digital format, under the condition that the original publication is mentioned in Cadernos de Campo.


EVALUATION PROCESS

All manuscripts will be evaluated by the Editorial Board and by the external reviewers. It will be a double blind peer review process, consisting of 2 or more reviewers designated to issue opinions on the manuscript.

The evaluation process will have the following steps:

Original review: The Editorial Committee meets regularly to review articles and establish whether or not they comply with editorial policy. Once accepted by the Editorial Board, the article will follow the procedures for peer review.

Initial review: At this stage, the Editorial Team assesses each manuscript for compliance with the rules established in the submission rules and ethical criteria and good scientific practices. If the manuscript does not meet the established rules and formatting, it will be returned for correction. In case of verification of plagiarism or ethical inadequacy, the text will be rejected.

Evaluation process: The accepted manuscripts undergo peer review. In the absence of a Conflict of Interest with authors and authors, 2 external reviewers are appointed by the Editorial Board, according to their specialization in the particular topic.

Opinions: The appraisers and appraisers are instructed to inform if there is any Conflict of Interest in relation to the article being appraised. If they accept to issue opinions, they will be placed directly in the OJS system. The decision can be "Accept", "Mandatory corrections", "Resubmit for review", "Reject submission" and "Resubmit for review". Based on these opinions, the Editorial Committee will assess the need for the manuscript to be reviewed by the author or author and sent for a second round of peer review.

Approval or rejection: The Editorial Committee will decide, based on the opinions, on the approval or rejection of the manuscript. In case of acceptance, the manuscript will enter the editing process for publication. Prior to publication, the authors will be consulted for approval of review and layout.

Evaluation deadline
The evaluation process even takes an average of 5 to 7 months from the date of receipt of the manuscript. This deadline is established according to the average number of articles and may vary according to the manuscritp. This variation is due to several factors, such as the speed of the evaluators, quality of the text, compliance with reviewing deadlines, etc. The deadline also varies according to the number of review rounds that each manuscript requires.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The paper is in relation to anthropological production about the topic
  • The paper respects the principles of good scientific practices
  • The proposal respect the ethical principles of anthropological work
  • The proposal is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • The file is in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or OpenOffice (.odt) format.
  • URLs for the references were informed when possible.
  • The text is typed in an A4 page, Times New Roman font, body 12 point, 1.5 cm spacing, with left/right margins 2.5 cm, header/footer 3 cm.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author's Guidelines, on the About the Journal page.
