This study explores exile as a symbol from Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic perspective in two key figures of the Generation of ’27: Rafael Alberti and María Zambrano. In Marinero en tierra (1924), Alberti expresses his deep-rooted connection and anticipates his way of facing exile through love and a bond with the land. Zambrano, in turn, develops a phenomenology of exile in works such as Filosofía y poesía (1939), Hacia un saber sobre el alma (1950), and El hombre y lo divino (1955), linking this experience to her method of poetic reason. Exile, as a key to interpretation, represents the human being’s separation from an original state of fulfillment, echoing the myth of the lost paradise. Beyond its territorial dimension, it symbolizes a rupture in identity and the sense of belonging. In Alberti and Zambrano, exile is confirmed as both a loss of spatial center and collective time; this experience defines their respective works.
