Starting with what is usually called "tango prehistoric", emerged in the late nineteenth century, this article covers several tango lyrics, beginning with the so-called "tango song" and reaching the compositions around the 1940's. This paper is organized by a point of view of gender and sexualities, more precisely by the construction and production of certain models of masculinity, which are addressed in socio-cultural context. My hypothesis is that from athis perspective (mainly from the models of "guapo") the develpment of tango might be reconsidered in its historical dimension.Downloads
