In the literary field, the simultaneous action of certain entities of mediation and consecration may result in the occupation of a privileged position and, therefore, lead to a status of prominence in the production and circulation system of symbolical goods, because of a hierarchy that goes from recognition to exclusion. In this paper, we deal with Max Aub’s legacy, nowadays considered a contemporary classic, and we aim at explaining how a work is situated in the canon after the disappearance of its author, what may condition its variability and what factors support it, interact for it and legitimate it in the literary field.
