Abstract

One of Max Aub’s books better received by readers, critics and editors was Jusep Torres Campalans [1958], written and published in Mexico, during the author's exile. This article traces the history of its translations, during the life of Aub, and in a broader context of the author's publishing history. We approach by reading the writer's correspondence with agents in the publishing field, preserved by the archives of the Fundación Max Aub.

Author Biography

  • Federico Gerhardt, Universidad Nacional de La Plata

    Doctor en Letras por la Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina), con una tesis sobre la trayectoria editorial de Max Aub en su exilio mexicano. Actualmente, se desempeña como docente en la cátedra de Literatura española II de la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación de la UNLP, y como investigador del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina) con lugar de trabajo en el Instituto de Investigaciones en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales (UNLP-CONICET), con un proyecto en torno a las revistas y editoriales de exiliados españoles en la Argentina en la década del cuarenta.

    Integra y ha integrado proyectos de investigación grupales sobre las relaciones culturales entre España y la Argentina, sobre las representaciones del pasado reciente y de la alteridad en la literatura española contemporánea, y sobre sus vínculos con la prensa periódica. Ha sido profesional de apoyo del Proyecto Internacional “El exilio republicano español en la Argentina”, y becario de estudio de la Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas (Buenos Aires), de postgrado del CONICET, y de investigación de la Fundación Max Aub (Segorbe). Es redactor de Olivar (UNLP). Ha participado en congresos nacionales e internacionales, y ha publicado trabajos en libros y en revistas especializadas argentinas y del extranjero.
