Resumo

Novos desenvolvimentos nas ciências físicas, tais como o estudo de sistemas de autopoeisis e estruturas dissipativas, representam uma bem-vinda adição ao arsenal intelectual dos economistas. Vinculados como estão a uma tradição de pesquisa evolucionária e holística, eles podem livrar os economistas da camisa-de-força da teoria do equillbrio geral, e permitir-lhes focalizar melhor a decisão individual em condições de incerteza e constrangimentos sociais. 0
conceito de autopoeisis e outros relacionados ao mesmo podem também lançar uma nova luz sobre o problema de coordenação de atividades individuals no mercado, constituindo, assim, artifícios importantes na construção de modelos
dinâmicos.
