Abstract

This interview with Professor Marília Pinto de Carvalho, conducted as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Educação e Pesquisa, reflects on her career as a faculty member at the School of Education at the University of São Paulo and her long-standing editorial involvement with the journal. Marília recalls the challenges faced during the transition from the Revista da Faculdade de Educação to Educação e Pesquisa, emhasizing the importance of peer review, the pursuit of academic recognition, and the consolidation of structured editorial practices. The interview also highlights her role in sustaining the journal’s credibility, her attention to readers, and the impacts of digitalization and the SciELO Submission system on editorial dynamics. Her testimony offers not only a historical account of the journal but also broader reflections on the transformations of scientific publishing in education in Brazil.
