Abstract

In the present article it has been discussed the historical determinants and the epistemological bases that constructed the issue about “normal child”, came from the modern scientific field. Moreover, it has been analyzed the effects of this conception when it is incorporated by the educational practices, mostly through the psychological theories. We also presented the challenges experienced by the interdisciplinary groups composed with professionals of the health and educational areas, which focus their work on children with different difficulties, aiming to solve the following questions: “what is a child?”, “how the childhood’s psychopathologies are developed?” “what is it treated in a child?” To conclude, it has been discussed the analyst’s functions in the schooling field, in a way that the individual’s place can be assured.
