Misinformation in digital media: semiotic teaching and awareness

Abstract

This article compares the construction of the enunciation’s actor in two disinformation websites: Jornal da Cidade Online, spreader of disinformation and fake news, and Jornal Tribuna Nacional, propagator of conspiracy theories; on 08/20/2022, at 6:10 pm. This comparison aimed to verify and reinforce the notion that sensitive resources of discourse construction can directly imply the belief in the truthiness of the speech, activating an ethical device (Patte, 1986) that requests the engagement of the subjects. The corpus analysis considered the pages as discursive totalities (Discini, 2009), seeking to observe formal recurrences shared by conspiratorial and disinformation discourses. In this sense, given the importance of knowing these strategies for the institution of critical literacy regarding disinformation discourses (Gomes, 2019), it became possible to delimit reading teaching strategies.
